NYCoRE's Organizing
Projects act together to initiate action around educational justice
issues, especially with regard to policies and practices
that we feel are unfairly targeting, oppressing and criminalizing youth,
particularly low-income youth of color. The groups will
meet periodically depending on the actions and work that NYCoRE and
allies (YOU!) collectively plan. Please join us!
Currently there
are three Organizing Projects focused on a specific educational justice
issue and one project focused on Educator Development.

Inquiry to Action Groups (ItAG)
Finally, the last way you can get involved with NYCoRE is through
our ItAGs. ItAG's differ from working groups; they are ongoing groups
that meet on a regular basis from now through March. Although
they have an action component, they more closely resemble study groups,
allowing educators to closely reflect on their own classroom practice.
Registration is closed for 2008, but please visit us for future
updates. If you are interested please contact Bree at info@nycore.org
for more information.

COMMITTEE AGAINST THE CRIMINALIZATION OF YOUTH (CACY)
Community activists and youth activists across the city are working
to fight the criminalization of youth in our schools. Teachers
are needed to join this struggle. Join NYCoRE's working
group to develop strategies that counter Operation Impact and
all policies that promote a police state in our schools. Demand respect
for students! If you are interested in leading or taking part please contact: info@nycore.org
