Join NYCoRE in our Educator-Activist Trip to
Oaxaca, Mexico
August 1st – August 11th, 2008


NYCoRE, with the support of the Moradian Learning Center, is delighted to provide this opportunity for educators committed to personal and collective growth as paths to social change. We are committed to hosting teachers and teacher educators on this trip, and providing experiences that educators can bring back to their local communities in the U.S.

NYCoRE’s Proposed Itinerary for the Trip Includes:
- Discussions and excursions to sites to present a broad picture of the social, political and economic situation in Oaxaca
- Meeting with members of the Educators’ strike, the Teachers Union, and youth and families
- Meeting with social justice activists working on various issues affecting Oaxaca
- Immersion into social and cultural art production locations and markets in Oaxaca
- Learning about the bio-diversity of Oaxaca and surrounding areas

Trip Cost
*Initial $500.00 Deposit must be submitted to by June 15th
The land cost for this tour is $1065 to Edwin/NYCoRE) per person based on a minimum of 10 paying participants to Global Exchange.
Tax-deductible donations can also be made to the Latin American Immigrant Alliance (by June 10th)
The price includes:
- All confirmations in the program.
- All Lodging and accommodations. Currently the group will be staying at homes in the community near the center of Oaxaca City. Our visits to the mountains will be dormitory style and or rustic cabins.
- On-ground transportation and airport group transfer on the arrival and departure dates.
- 1-2 translators during activities.
- Preparatory reading and orientation materials.
- Admission and fees to all program activities.
- Honoraria to speakers
- Donations to organizations.
